The Vision
Structural Order
The Brutalist Grid Tee is an homage to the geometric purity of modern architecture. In a world of chaotic visuals, this project seeks to provide a sense of order and grounding. The design features a sprawling, blueprint-inspired grid that wraps around the left side of the torso, creating an asymmetrical balance that shifts as you move. This isn’t just a pattern, it is a representation of the frameworks that build our cities. It appeals to the designer, the architect, and the urban explorer who finds beauty in the skeleton of a skyscraper before the glass is ever installed.
Precision Printing and Fit
The challenge with wraparound graphics is maintaining the alignment of the lines across the side seams. For the Brutalist Grid, we utilized a ‘Panel Printing’ technique. Each piece of the shirt is printed individually before being sewn together, ensuring that the grid remains perfectly horizontal and vertical. The fit is our ‘Architectural Oversize,’ featuring a high-sitting neckline and extra-wide sleeves that create a sharp, rectangular silhouette. This structure emphasizes the ‘block’ nature of the design, making the wearer appear more grounded and substantial.
Material Specifications
Jersey: We used a 260 GSM ‘Dry-Hand’ cotton. This specific weave feels crisp and structured, mimicking the texture of drawing paper. Non-Stretch Ribbing: The collar is reinforced with a high-density rib that contains 5% elastane, ensuring it never sags, even after a full day of wear. Low-Impact Ink: The grid is applied using a charcoal-tinted water-based ink that sinks into the fibers, maintaining the breathability of the heavyweight cotton.
